Data Doctors Radio Program
Exploring the Open Source Software World
In computer programming, the 'source code' is somewhat like the DNA of a program in that all of the instructions and the ability to change what the program can do is contained in the source code.
Traditional commercial software does not allow users access to the source code, so that users can only get updates from the original source.
Open Source software is software that allows anyone to access the source code, therefore, giving anyone with the technical know-how the ability to make changes.
There are a host of free open-source alternatives to many popular commercial programs that could save you big bucks.
Listen in as the Data Doctors take you on a field trip into the awesome world of open source software!
