How do I fix the problem of not being able to get into my hard drive, after dowloading Internet Explorer 6?

How do I fix the problem of not being able to get into my hard drive. I can't get into control panel, My Computer, Recycle Bin. It all started whenI tries to download Internet Explorer 6.

You should go into safe mode by pressing f8 at boot up.

Uninstall Internet Explorer 6.

check the microsoft web site for which version of Internet Explorer that is compatible

with windows 98.

Internet explorer 6 may not be compatible with windows 98.
