What is computer management?

After using fdisk, formatting and reinstalling my OS, I am unable to find my SLAVE HD in My Computer. I previously partitioned this 40gig drive and when I check disk management in system utilities, I can only see the first partition. How do I access extended partition in the logical dos drive in order to recover the date??

You dont need to go through dos to have the hd recognized computer management hides the hd that has not been given any lettering yet.
