What is in the background?

when the windows update icon appears and i click on it nothing happens and when i check the windows update site nothing as downloaded

It has install and it does install the new software it just does it in the background while you continue on with your business ans as well as going to the site they not going to tell you what you have downloaded they are mostly likely going to tell you what you need
