This is the situationg, the HIMEM.SYS is missing Make sure that the file is in your Windows directory.

If you want to learn to fix follow this steps:

1-Restart the computer in Safe mode Command Prompt Only by pressing F8 at the bootup.

2-Type edit autoexec.bat to open the Autoexec.bat file in the DOS Edit program.

Type set dos16m=2 as the very first line in the file.

Press Alt F to open the file menu, and then press S to save the file.

Press Alt F to open the file menu, and then press X to exit the editor.

3-Restart the computer to see whether the problem is solved.

If this didn't work then try this another possibility:

1-Type edit config.sys to open the Config.sys file in the DOS Edit program The Config.sys file should include the following line You may need to append a space and /M:1 only or add the entire line.

device=c:\windows\himem.sys /m:1

Press Alt F to open the file menu, and then press S to save the file

Press Alt F to open the file menu, and then press X to exit the editor.
