Most IBM Thinkpads have a hidden partition that contains a restore for your laptop, you may want to do a restore than format your machine When you are booting up the laptop you should be prompted to hit the blue (Access IBM) button or another key to enter the BIOS, once in there should be an option to restore factory installation if not then you may need to purchase the CD's from IBM.
