simply put my computer fails to recognize when i put certian disks in the dvd/cdrom drive. only two disks are experiancing trouble at the moment, one is a disk called chem skill builder for my chemistry class. it worked on my computer at least once (not sure if more than once) but now it fails to work. but the cd works because i have used it on my roommates computer. the other disk is a dvd which my computer along with my dvd player were unable to recognize, but i think feel that that cd is corrupt.

i just dont understand why my comp doesnt want to read this disk. anything else i put in works just fine.

The way I think that the bean of the eye could be the problem or the DVD in your lab top is not comparable with the CD That what I think.
