Since I have had my Dell 2350 (Feb 2003) it consistantly will lose connection. Get notice stating "cannot find server". I then have to shut down cable modem and my computer and start system again. Then it will be okay and work maybe a week or might just work one day and have to shutdown everything again. Dell has been no help with their tech support, and my computer repairman is at a lost. He mentioned something about "timing out?" I am at a loss as I do not know that much about computers. When working the system is great, there is no set time for the lost connections. Once I shut everything down and start up again it is okay for either a long period or short period of time. Just never know when it will happen. Any help would be appreciated.

You may have a noisy phone line Try the connection using two modems of the same brsnd and mosel If performance is better, the problem is most likely the phone line bexause two modems of the same brand and model are best able to compensate for a noisy phone line

Is the phone line from the moden to the jack too long? About 4 feet is the upper limit; otherwise, electromagnetic interference may be the problem.

Straightem the phone lines and clear the line of any extra equipment.

Reinstall the modem Allow Windows XP to detect the modem for you and install its own drivers.

Search the Web site of the modem manufacturer for a new driver and install that.
