After formating hard drive with W/Millenium Ed. Unable to download original OS win 98. I was unaware that the fat 16 was converted to 32 and went ahead with wiping the hard drive. Now all I get is insert disk. Tried all of MS suggestions and tried to reboot with floppie rebot. Same request, insert disk. I have 98 CD but it just shows HP logo. I can use all the help I can get. thanks in advance- jim

If you have the 98 OS cd you can reformate the hard drive and reinstall the OS you will have to repartion the hard drive you can remove all partions and make one and put 98 on this partions if you have the OS disk follow the promps and format and do a fresh install.

to remove partions you can use fdisk with the boot floopy with is a dos command program

windows millenium requires fat 32 instead of fat 16 you can use 98 with fat 32 as well

worst case you may need a whole now hard drive and do a fresh install this also maybe the easiest thing to do the only thing is it costs money
