What will help me defragment my hard drive?

scan disk will not finish on standard or through scan, it always says something is writing on the drive, and defragment will not function without scan disk because it has errors that need to be repaired. please help

1 Print the contents of SCANDISK.INI in the \Windows\command directory of your hard drive SCANDISK.INI contains settings that ScanDisk reads and uses when it executes.

2 What is the settings that allows ScanDisk to delete the contents of a lost cluster without prompting you first?

3 From the INI file information, can ScanDisk repair a damaged boort sector of a compressed drive?

4 Reboot in MS-DOS mode Run SCANDISK from a command prompt What errors did it find?

5 From a command prompt, type HELP DEFRAG What aare the cautions listed concerning when not to use Defrag?

6 Following the directions from the Help utility, defragment a disk or hard drive using the Defrag utility.
