how do i reformat my computer?

This question was answered on November 17, 2003. Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting.


Before you start make sure you have all the software you need (or want) Then make sure you have made a backup of the files you need to keep, I suggest you slowly go through all of the folders you normally would use I.E you can skip things like the WINDOWS directory.

Once you have all the necessary app's and copies or backup's of your files it is quite easy Get your Windows CD (I recommend XP PRO) insert the cd and restart the pc With windows it is really simple you can usually go with their recommendations

If The windows XP setup does not start automatically from starting the PC Restart it and while it is in the first screens look for the setup command This lets you enter the BIOS (usually F2 or "DEL") just scroll through the menus looking for the BOOT ORDER Change that to be CD-Rom first followed by Floppy then Hard Drive Then Save and exit (usually F10)
