A friend just removed and reinstalled his HP printer driver because he kept getting an error message. When he rebooted the system his installation of MS Office would not run. PC says " you must install this program before you can run it." We checked program files, and all office files, including .exe's are there, but even using the .exe's gives the above error message. Also, all icons on his desktop have reverted to those that were on the PC when he first purchased it. He claims this happened to him once before in the spring, and he reloaded the programs and all was fine till now. His documents all appear to be intact. Is this a processor problem, hard drive problem, or possibley a virus. He has been running Norton anti-virus all along. He used Norton win-doctor to try to remove the problem before before attempting to remove the printer driver and after first boot everything was fine. Then he reinstalled driver, rebooted and that's when the problem arose. Please help.

This problem keeps on persisting everytime you install the driver It seems that the printer for your driver is not compatible with your operating system It seems you are going to have to find a better driver that is more compatible with your operating system But one thing you can check to see if its something else is right click my computer click on properties click on hardware then device manager if you see that there is a question mark by anything you can be able to update the driver either with its own software or a specialized cd that came with your computer.
