Hi,

Sometimes when I exit email (outlook express) I end up with a new desktop icon. The icon's name is "~" and it appears to do nothing. The properties of the file are:

Type: File

Location: C\Windows\Desktop

size: 217KB (223,055 bytes), 229376 bytes used

MS-DOS name: ~

Attributes: Archive

I've updated and run my Norton anti-virus but it doesn't seem to find the file offensive. I end up deleting it by hand, but it always seems to come back.

What is it? And more importantly, how can I get rid of it?

Thanks,

Sandy

It seems that your outlook express is creating a temp file to your desktop, you may want to check the seetings for outlook and either change the path to where it creates the temp files or disable it.
