I recently asked a question reguarding the erronious files left on my computer after doing a re-install of windows XP. I need to know how to remove these files. This includes the files the re-install saved from the original system and are no longer needed. Some one answered me by telling me to go to the control panel and using the add-remove function. Please read my question. I am looking to remove FILES not

Programs. If u have don this type of re-install over the existing xp operating system and have the answer, please contact me.

When you reinstall Xp, you first choose a partition if you want to keep the existing files in your harddrive you would use the same partition and just install the OS In your case, you want to completely remove the files left over and just want the windows files during the installation You would delete the partition and create a new one Then Windows formats the harddrive Once you install Windows XP you will have the necessary files needed to run the OS, not the excess files you say you did not want.
