I have transfered my hard drive to a new system.

it goes to 'verify DMI pool data', sometimes sucessful sometimes not but I always get a message 'disk read error'.

I have tried 'auto detect' hard drive under bios and that worked but did not resolve problem.

I have tried to repair my windows XP, it finds previous instalation but once it asks for what version of windows to go to I don't know what to put.

Is reformatting the drive my only option?

I also see a line that says 'primary master disk HDD S.M.A.R.T. capability disabled' but don't know what this means or hoe to enable it?

thanks, Michelle

When you try to repair your XP the next time and ask for previous version to go to select Windows 98 because it runs compatible with all the lastest Windows Operating System if not back up ever file you need and reformat your drive
