The IBM 380XD laptop came with a 4GB HD. I wish to install a 25.5 GB HD. Unfortunately, with the latest BIOS installed, it will only accept a max of 8 GB HUD. Is there any software patch to get around the 8GB limit?

It seems that your laptop is not fully ready to run a 25.5 GB HD so you better to exchange it for a HD with the max for your laptop
