I would like a list of file extentions, their meaning, and what program is needed to open a file with a particular extension.
My reason is on occasion I will get an error message saying that the file can't be opened and then I'll get a list of programs to choose from.
I have no idea what to choose.
Is there something that will help me make that decision?
I am a semi-technical computer user, so any answer you can give me needs to be in non-technical terms.
Thanks.

If you have windows, then you should just click on help and seach for the file extentions If should give you a list of extensions and their definition If not search it online using google.
