I recently tried to re format my hard drive. After using the setup disks that came with my comp, I am getting the error message upon startup.

windows could not start because the following file is missing or is corrupt

\window\system32\config\system

you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM

select 'r' at the first creen to start repair

I am having trouble locating this screen and/or option to make this repair. do I have to reformat again?

When you reboot, you must press to go to the bios setup Then you would have to change the boot sequence IF you have the Windows Cd then you must change the first boot sequence to boot from Cd If you have a floppy then it should be at boot floopy by default.
