Why do I get a blank screen some seconds before my programs appear.

on my new system with windows xp professional installed when i click "start" then click "show all programs" i get a white blank area for about 10 seconds or so before all the programs will appear. perhaps 2 out of 10 times the programs will appear instantly when "show all programs" is selected. but otherwise there is this delay. anyone know why? thanks

You may need more RAM memory or the video card memory needs upgrading or video driver upgrade.
