If your computer don't show nothing or if the monitor is blank but the light is orange, then this is a problem with either the video card or the RAM memory You don't have to reformat the hard drive if your computer doesn't turn or show nothing.

If your computer give message after is been boot then the problem is base on the OS file system, but still you can recover your data If your computer doesn't recognize the hard drive and keeps recognizing only the CD-ROM than is a hard drive problem and your data is lost only if you send to a specialize support that can recover data but is has a big cost.
