Norton system works anti virus (2002) - system scan freezes @ C:\Documents and Settings\JOE\LocalSettings\Temp\FrontPageTempDir.

Norton Error Message:

Norton AntiVirus was unable to scan your computer for infections. The virus scan failed because some AntiVirus components are missing. Uninstall Norton AntiVirus, then reinstall.

I have uninstallled and re-installed Norton but this did not help. Do I need to delete the above temp. directoty for Norton to work?

Normally when two program even if you don't see because they are running it background mode, your computer will freeze because the to program are accessing the memory address and overwriting when there is not enough.

Ok, the next step is to update the software by click the liveupdate tab, it should be some where once you open the Antivirus Norton Well After update all the latest definition.

once you have all the update definition of your Antivirus restart and boot up into Safe mode by pressing F8 and From there start your full scan I think this is a best way to do it because there is no program running and more resource you can have to run the program and even you can try defragment is faster.
