I can play my sound only in the case of CDs or downloaded files. However, if I go on a website with sounds, it doesnt play anymore. Havent made any changes to system settings but it just stopped. As far as I can remember, the sound problems increased after updating video card drivers. also, if I plug in the earplugs , I can't hear anything. The earplugs are working!

I ran the SB Live Diagnostics, and sound card tests failed. This has happened before and DELL has exchanged my card. That makes the tests pass but after few months, same problems presist(diagnostics failing). Changed my PCI slot, reinstalled the drivers, but nothing works.

The best thing that i can suggest to you is to get dell to sent you a new sound card if the one you have is still under warrantee call dell and find you what they can send to you to help.

because it sounds like you sound card is shot.
