What will correct my screen display problems?

our screen area is 640x480 when we try to resize it the bar wont move it wont let us change it to more screen area. we have tried every thing u said and nothing will work. it is fixed at 640x480 and nothing else dont tell me to just change it cause it wont let us change it to more screen area. everything on the computer is really large.
