Need Anti Virus Software?

On our home computer each family member has their own settings (using Windows XP). On my daughter's site when she opens the internet explorer she gets a popup that instructs her to buy spyware software. She is unable to use the internet. Our cd and dvd doors both open when this message comes up. Our internet provider is cox. They had us download checkit86, a popup blocker download This did not solve the problem. The other family members are able to use the internet without this popup message. Thanks for your help.
