I upgraded my operating systerm (to MS Windows 2000 Professional). Before, I had 256 + 128 KB of Ram memory (x1,000). After the installation, it reads half of that. Then, i thought my RAM was bad so i inserted a 512,000 KB simm but after installation, it reads 256,000. Then, I added the old 256,000 KB. and it now reads 384,000 KB of ram. WHen I right-click" on my computer and click properties, it tells me the amount of RAM (KB). Why does my computer only half the RAM I install?

The only reason I believe that is happening is that because your motherboard can only handle 384 MB of RAM A PC only can handle up to a certain limit of RAM and perhaps your PC could only allow for 384.
