My question earlier must have been misunderstood. I currently have Windows XP HOME installed on my computer. I will no longer be using that operating system and wish to give it to a friend. My question would be how can I give my copy of Windows XP HOME to someone else, so that they can register it under their name, if I am no longer going to have it installed. I am going to intall another operating system completely. How could this be software piracy if it is a leagally purchased copy of the software, and it is not installed on any computer, but was at one time installed on a computer.

It's piracy becuase you don't have a lisence aggreement that allows you to use that copy of xp and it's product key more than once on any computer

For that you have to pay more money, but you can just give your friend your copy and when they install it when it comes to the register menu they can use a different product key or use your's and put their information.
