Computer ran fine up to last week. Now it won't boot. Stops at dos screen recommending "SAFE MODE 3". Next window message is:

"Invalid VxD link call to device #3, service B. Windows Config invalid. Run Windows Setup program again to correct the problem." Computer then shuts itself down.

Booted up using the Win98 Emergency Boot floppy and ran Windows Setup. As usual, Windows asks to re-start the computer once it's finished. After re-start, I end up back to the dos screen and the same "invalid VxD..." message.

Went through this same cycle three more times - same result.

Took cover off the computer and removed the digital audio recording interface card. Went through the same cycle again - same result.

Have given up in frustration. Hope you can help me!!!

Unfortunatly, you may have to re-install the o/s but, one should try using the diagnostic tools on the boot disk 1st.
