I have been trying to uninstall my existing Microsoft Office 2000 using the Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs function but have been unsuccessful. I get the following error: "The patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

Prior to this, I was able to download updates from Microsoft site for Office 2000 but now I can not because of an update error due to possible missing Windows Installer patch files (.MSP files).

Please advise how can I fix this problem.

Thank you.

You may want to try and uninstall using the Office CD, it should be able to uninstall the application for you.
