Why can't I download critical updates on my computer?

can not download critical updates process goes on until it gets to download progress then stops before showing any further progress. have waited up to one hour with no results. Have no problems with any other types of downloads. It happens even if I shut down all other programs. Could it be a virus? I use Norton and update it on auto plus double check by manually updating 2-3 times a week Thanks

You may be trying to download a large update and you don't have enough space on your harddrive to complete the full download process You must also remember that,you don't have to accept every update that is available This only takes up unnecessary space The programs that are currently on your computer should be the only udates you download
