Hi, this is a puzzler for me. My computer will randomly freeze up with a faint click: the signal to the screen will stop and the hdd light will come on, forcing me to turn my computer off. When I try to restart my computer the hard drive light will stay on - again blank screen, and no satisfying 'beep'. I usually have to wait half an hour to an hour before I can reboot my comp again. Initially I thought my processor was overheating but im monitoring the temp and this does not seem to be the problem. Tried a virus scan but it came up with nothing (although NAV might be compromised). DO any of these symptoms sound familiar - it really is quite a random occurence- sometimes it doesnt happen at all for a couple of days (its been doing this on and off for 5 months now)- although it does tend to happen when i need my computer the most!! help! Grateful for any advice you can give, thanks in advance.

Callum

This may be a shot in the dark but you may want to check the Hard Disk drive, it may be that your Hard Drive is overheating and not you CPU When your computer is running normally you may want to check the to see how hot it gets - you may need a Hard Drive cooler that can be purchased online.
