I have run into a major virus problem on my system. I have downloaded and run several virus scanners and programs to detect the viruses on the system. Some would not detect these viruses and I found one that detected 13 viruses but wanted lots of money to cure them. Then I found AVG virus program that detected 19 viruses on system. It said it healed them but when I go to test results it says system still infected and further scans will not detect them now. There are three types of viruses on my system, they are Trojan horse Downloader.Byterage, Trojan horse Back Door.VB.9.M and Trojan horse Downloader.Dyfica.N. I have spent several days and many frustrating hours trying to fix this computer. I know the viruses are still on it, because it still has many programs not responding and it still freezes up. What can I do to fix the problem and would purging the entire system help. If purging system will help can you tell me how to do it. Please help before computer ends up in snow bank.

Thanks,

Tawnya

One thing that you can try is if you have another computer or have a friend that does is to connect your hard-drive as a slave drive and have the main drive scan and delete the virus files, the reason for this is because you are scanning and repairing viruses on the same drive and at the same time as the viruses, meaning that you are curing and erasing while the virus(es) are infecting your system and antivirus files.

The other thing is to start from scratch and reinstall Windows from scratch, I would suggest this only as a last resort being that you will lose whatever files d work you have saved on your PC.
