Conflict errors

Friend had a computer, Pentium 111 500 Mhz updated to 256 ram and a picture card installed. When playing games it freezes. We installed modem and when trying to get on line, computer freezes when trying to recognize modem. Error messages are as follows: Resource conflict PCI Network Controller in Slot 02. and Network Adapter 3 Com fast etherlink XL 10/100 MB T4 etherlink NIC

Error messages were happening prior to Modem installation.

The error message that you are reading states that you have two network cards installed on your machine and both are trying to grab the same address on the computer, you may need to uninstall one of them or manually change the IRQ settings.

To change the IRQ setting, right-click my computer and select properties, look for devices or device manager, there you will see that there are some items that have a yellow symbol meaning that they have a problem - double-click on one and check the resoures, it should tell you which resource(s) are in conflict and with what, you should also have the option to change it manually.
