I have been having problems with my laptop Compaq Presario 1400. First the monitor started turning pink in the bottom left hand corner. Then the screen started flickering. In addition, if I walk away for a while and the computer is still on, the screen goes to all black and then I have to press keys and move my mouse around for a while. Only then does it slowly come back and I begin to see an image again. At the same time, my power indicator flickers as well as the on/off light. There is obviously something wrong. I don't know if this is common or what it means. Before I put any more money into this laptop, I'd like to know if it's even worth it or if I should invest in a new computer. Is my laptop on its way out? I appreciate your time and advice.

Sincerley,

Shirley Camargo

Sounds like it is the video card problem Exchange with some other card and see if it flickers Old monitors also give the same problem However, if it is due to age, the flickering worsens as time goes by

If you have an incompatible video memory card, the screen can flicker, even dance My screen used to shudder like it went through an earthquake, only for several seconds I changed the card and it was alright Try downloading the latest driver for your video card If this does not work, upgrade your card with the one that at least has 16MB memory

you need more memory Your computer is not able to refresh because there isn't enough memory or there is memory leakage Check the problem with norton utilities win doctor or upgrade memory.

In settings, check if the monitor is default or shows your monitor Sometimes, the monitor may not be installed properly but windows runs it with the default drivers Reinstall the monitor, if possible with a new driver

Right click on your desktop, click on properties Select "settings" and then "advanced" Select "monitor" Change the refresh rate to "optimal setting" or to the highest setting The monitor may go off or flicker violently for a few seconds DO NOT touch If the setting is no better than the original change to some other number, till you get the right one Hope this

I think my monitor is flickering sometimes when i start the pc due to viruses can anyone get some solution.
