I have a cd writer that will not recognize writeable disks. It will read factory made music and data cd's, I get an insert cd massage when I put in a blank or previously recorded cd - which works fine on anouther machine. I upgraded the proceser and several other componets. The cd writer worked in the past. I have reinstalled the 'Nero' writer software.

Probably the laser is dropping in output - its dying.

CD-R and RW need a higher level of laser reflectivity than original recordings They are the first to show any loss of output.

This condition is not repairable.
