I have a brand new Dell Dimension 8300 with a TEAC DVD +R/+RW Combo Drive. I am experiencing major problems playing DVDs? The Audio is Fine, however, the video is distorted. The movie can be seen very clearly with impressive resolution, however, I get 20-25 vertical green dotted lines across the screen from top to bottom?

The only way I could get rid of these lines was by reducing hte hardware accelertation setting to exclude OpenGL and 3D.....something or the other. This got rid of all the vertical lines, however, the quality of the picture becomes very poor. How can I get rid of those horrid green lines??

Thanks

Things I tried and did not work:

(1) reduce the color setting to 16bit and screen size to 800x600.

(2) upload a new graphics driver from ther dell site.

(3) use different DVDs.

(4) use different software to playback the DVDs.

It sounds to me that you are experiencing interference from other devices I suggest you remove any metal objects, wires or plugs from around your computer, as these could be causing the problem Two or more audio or video plugs connected to your computer can also result in the green lines you described.
