Hi,
I am not computer illiterate, but this problem baffles me. Yes, my computer is about 6 years old...I planned on replacing it within the next year. For some reason, my floppy drive was making a lot of noise, so I opened up the tower to disengage it. The next day when I tried to plug it back in, all of a sudden, my computer just lost power. The power cord is plugged in and I don't see anything unplugged or loose inside the tower. I'm so confused and frustrated because I really need to get this up and running again. Thanks.

If you took out the floppy cord, which is connected from floppy drive to motherboard out, and put it back in There could be a possiblity that you did not put it back in the same way that it was Leading you to a burnt motherboard The cord that connecs to the floppy has a little slit on the cable on the floppy side not the motherboard side If you placed that slit side on the motherboard side you could have possibly burned the motherboard The other case could be that you might have touched some components inside the computer with your bare hands leading to a static discharge and again burning the motherboard
