My modem will not get pass the initilizing stage, why.

TRY TO GO ON-LINE AND IT WILL NOT GO PAST INITILZING MODEM PLEASE HELP THIS IS FIRST COMPUTER AND I AM AREAL DUMMY AT THIS

You should try uninstalling and then re-installing your modem Also, check with your ISP to see if you have connection problems Good luck.
