Disk cleanup

When I try to run Disk cleanup in Xp, the processor runs at 100% and the small windo sticks at the promtp compressing old files befor I tell it to clean the files. This happens when it is checking the system. How can I repair the disk cleanup utility?

When running the disk cleaning utility, it is normal for it to take a long time It scans all the files stored and compressing them so that they take up less space on your computer I would suggest that you let it complete running to see the outcome.
