If the cd began to act funny

Background information:

I'm fixing this computer for a friend. The CMOS battery's dead so I replaced it but there's still display problem. After the Windows 98 boots up, I can see the Windows desktop for around 1 second and everything just gone blank. Windows 98 was still running but no display. I tried Safe Mode and there was no problem there. However, I just can't get the display to work no matter what I tried. So I gave up and decided to format the harddrive and reinstall Windows.

Current Problem:

I was able to use CD-ROM to install Windows 98 Second Edition. But it starts acting funny after Windows is installed. I can still browse CD content upon startup but whenever I press the eject button or even use the eject command, the CD ROM just stops working/reading. I can't read it anymore. If I restart, it will work again until I press eject button or click on eject command. I don't know what's wrong.

The CD-ROM shown in System Properties is: MATSHITA CD_ROM CR-584

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

CD ROM acting funny after the windows is installed You can not use the eject button or use the eject command, this kind of error use to appear when the driver of your cd rom is not working properly, so you must reinstall the drivers for your cd rom again, the driver must be compatible with your operating system.
