Without going into my stupid tricks of why, I put windows 2k disk in and managed to load some setup files before cancelling it. Now when I boot up I get screen with my normal windows 2000 and windows 2000 setup, of which the later is the default. I can select my windows 2k and it boots fine but if I hit the on button and walk away it goes to win2k setup. Think (but not sure)I found the offending files in folder $win_nt$.~bt. All files in this folder have dates in 1999, probably from original install, except three dated 1/8/2004 (date of my stupid trick) Can I just delete these three without crashing? Are these likely the only offending files?

Log into the system until you reach the computers desktop Using your mouse rightclick the My Computer icon and click the properties option The System Properties Box shows up With about five tabs on the top "General" "Network Identification" "Hardware" "Users Profile" "Advanced" Click on the Advanced tab There would be three sections the last one being " Startup and Recovery", click on that button There you can see the Default Operating sytem under the system startup column

Use the scroll arrow to change the default operating system to Windows 2000 then click ok at the bottom of the box.
