Can using scan and defrag or turning the computer off by hitting the power button cause your hard drive to crash? I was told it would by a computer consultant. My computer is freezing up on me bad and I'm afraid to turn it on now because when it does, I can't do a soft reboot.

Yes your computer will crash if you are running an application or program and hit the off while doing so.Also get rit of unnessasery short cut & temp files,cookies, clean out history all this take up memory..This mite help with the freezing or you need more memory.
