Computer's on, but nothing is on the screen, what gives?

my computer will power up but does not beep or boot up and i get a black screen.

It could a few problems, since there were no beeps then I assume it would have to do with the monitor not getting a signal If you can try your computer with a different monitor If you are still haveing the same problem and you have two different video cards on your machine, make sure that the one you are using is working Hope this helps.
