WHAT IS WININIT.EXE, AND HOW DO I REPAIR IT?

when i start my computer i get a message wininit.exe missing unable to load. press any key to continue. what is cuasing this and how do i fix it.

WININIT.EXE, IS THE FILE THAT INITIALIZED WINDOWS, IT CAN BE DAMAGED OR CORRUPTED IN MANY WAYS, TO REMEDY, USE YOUR CD TO REPAIR, OR RE-INSTALL THE FILE, OR SIMPLY UPGRADE TO 2000 OR XP.
