WHY DOES MY VIDEO CARD DROP IN PERFORMANCE?

hello, i've been experiencing a derastic drop in preformance by my video card (radeon 9800 pro) after its been up and running for about 10-20 mins its fairly new and this just started happening.

MAKE SURE THAT THE CARD IS COMPATIBLE W THE MOTHERBOARD, AND THAT THE PROPER DRIVERS AND VIDEO SETTINGS ARE IN PLACE.
