I cannot get my system to recongnize any drives except

my hard drive and my 3 1/2" floppy ("A"drive). This all worked prior to

my reformat, but I didn't do anything to change it. I have a CDRW and a

Zip drip that can't be recognized. They are getting power, but they are

not showing up in "My Computer". I have swapped out the ribbon cables

and tried connecting to both slots on my motherboard, but it is still

not recognizable.

I have a CD to load the drivers for my CDRW but I

can't even do that if the drive isn't recognizable in the first place. I

have a Gatway Restoration dist, but again, I can't load it if I don't

have a drive to run it on. I have checked in the BIOS to see if there is

anything that might have been changed, but it is OK so I didn't mess

with it. I have also run "Add New Hardware" from the Control Panel and

it didn't find anything. I'm at a loss here. Please help. Thanks in

advance.

After reviewing what you have already done, the only thing I believe you must is to see if another device is using the same port setting or IRQ number; check in the Device manager.

The last resort is to run a current version of antivirus software
