Would I have more hard drive space and memory if I remove antivirus and earthlink programs?

If I remove programs like antivirus, earthlink 2004, internet answering machine, etc. will this give me more hard drive and memory to use to work with word, and graphic programs?

I am buying a new computer, will not be using old one for online work.

Yes, you would have more hard drive space, but you will certainly have more RAM memory which should speed applications up greatly!
