well i recently decided to upgrade my computer. so i changed most of the parts inside my computer. now i got a p4 2.8 gigahertz, radeon 9600 12mb vid card and gigabyte 8ipe1000 motherboard. and kept my 27gig hard drive.

but when i installed windows xp on the system. the computer kept on restarting everytime i went online. and simply cannot figure out the problem. so i went back to windows 98. and most things seem to be working normally. but when i tried to play computer games. the game would lag for some unknown reason. it would lag and then go back to normal and lag again. the game i'm playing is C&C generals expansion.

can anyone help me fix the problem.

It looks like your cable modem has some problem with other hardware in the configuration of your system, you must look in the system device manager and look with the modem have any conflicts.

When you install XP in your computer, install your cable modem and them go to Control Panel, then click to Performance and Maintenance, click System, in the System Properties, click the Hardware tab, then click Device Manager, and in the Device Manager windows expand Network adapters, right click to the cable modem and you will see if it has any conflicts, if it has it, click troubleshooter to resolve it
