On my other computer, I used a rescue disk from another computer of mine to do a virus scan (Norton Anti Virus). Both computers are running Windows ME. Upon completion of the scan and no viruses detected, I restarted the system. It shows Compaq on the monitor with the blinking curser at top left like nothing is wrong, then displays in middle of screen "304-keyboard or system unit error. then another message at top left screen says "Non-system disk or disk error. replace and strike any key when ready." No matter what we do, this message stays on. We have used the ME installation CD to try and reboot and a rescue disk(floppy) to boot from, and pressed every key on the keybord but nothing works. For each action the screen blibks nd that same error message appears. I can't even get to safe mode to do a system restore. To turn the computer off, I need to hold the power button in. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del once restarts the computer. Is there a way I might be able to get to DOS so I can type the command scanreg/ restore? Will this fix the problem?
Thank you so very much

Much of the information contained herein may have changed since posting. From what I can tell your problem can most likely be one of two things, one check your floppy drive connections - make sure all connection are in properly and secure, try unplugging the mouse before you reboot and see if that helps Your problems may be much greater, such as your motherboard may have problems which cannot be fixd but require you to replace your motherboard.
