I have a Sony VAIO v505 series laptop 30GB-1.3GHz-256MB RAM-WINDOWS XP-CD/DVD Combo. The laptop suddenly started giving an error message on a blue screen while booting up, before the password page. It was something about a problem being detected, so it was shutting down to "protect my data". I checked the the Setup and tried over and over again to boot it properly, but it only seemed to get worse. I decided to run the RESTORE CD that came with the computer (thogh I knew it would delete all me stored data). As this started to run, it came up with an error message (after 30 secs), that the operation couldn't be completed. Upon re-starting the machine, it said the OS couldn't be found. Eveything seemed ok in the Setup.

Could it be a virus? ....if so, how do I get rid of it, since the computer wouldn't boot?

What do I do???
