Fixed disk error

When i turn on my computer the HP invent blue screen comes up then i hear some beeps and dos screen come up and reads: Phoenix BIOS 4.0 Release 6.0 ; Copyright 1985-2000 Phoenix Technologies Ltd. ; All rights reserved ; Version 2.03 ; CPU=Intel(R) Celeron(tm) processor 667 MHz ; 0128k cache SRAM Passed ; 63M System RAM Passed ; System BIOS shadowed ; video BIOS shadowed ; UMB upperlimit segment address: E807 ; Mouse intialized ; Fixed Disk 0: Maxtor ALTAIR ; ATAPI CD-ROM: SONY CD-RW CRX175E2 ; ATAPI CD-ROM: LTN485S ; WARNING ; ERROR ; 0200: Failure Fixed Disk 0 then at the bottom press f1 to setup or f2 to resume when i press f2 the computer says operating system not found and i cant type anything it just keeps saying that. This just happened randomly i hadnt tried to download anything new or anything what can i do?

This problem can be either that your hard drive is going bad or that the operating system on your hard drive is corrupted, in which case if the drive is bad you will need to purchase a new Hard drive, if it is the Operating System that has gone bad then you wil need to reinstall the OS which should fix your problems I would suggest that you try to reinstall the Operating System first in case that it is not the Hard drive that has gone bad.
